Outdoor Exhibition Stands and Structures

An outdoor stand is a different engineering problem from an indoor one. Wind, rain and whatever the ground is doing that week all become design constraints.

Why outdoor builds are not indoor builds outside

Indoors, a stand needs to stand up and look right. Outdoors it needs to do that in wind, stay watertight, and sit level on ground that may be soft, sloped or rutted. Ballast and anchoring become structural decisions rather than afterthoughts, and the wrong assumption about ground conditions is discovered on build day when it is expensive.

Power and cable routing are the other common surprise. Distances are longer, runs have to be protected from vehicles and footfall, and weather protection is not optional.

Showground events

Venues like NAEC Stoneleigh run a large proportion of their business outdoors - over 250 acres of it - and many shows there split between hall and showground. Handling both halves of a project through one contractor avoids the seam between two suppliers falling exactly where the stand does.

Frequently asked questions

Can outdoor exhibition stands be reused?

Yes, and they generally should be. Outdoor structures take more wear than indoor stands, so the inspection and refurbishment between events matters more - but a well-built structure reused across several seasons is far better value than a new build each time.
